BREAKING: Kvyat OUT at Toro Rosso; Gasly to Join

Posted by jrfracing51 on September 26, 2017 at 10:20 AM

Breaking news out of Red Bull Racing this afternoon, Daniil Kvyat has been removed his Toro Rosso ride effective today by the Senior team, Pierre Gasly is set to take over the ride for the remainder of the season as Kvyat "didn't show his true potential" according to Red Bull. As everyone knows, Kvyat was called up last season to Red Bull but after various wrecks, they demoted him back to Toro Rosso for Dutch driver Max Verstappen, Kvyat has had various run-ins with teammate Carlos Sainz and other driver this season, as well as multiple crashes by himself varying from practice to qualifying to the race. Kvyat, who wrecked out by himself 2 weeks ago in Singapore, sits 19th in the overall drivers standing, something Red Bull was "ashamed of" and noted that it's a "disgrace" that they field a car that low in the standings.

This rumour has taken a massive turn as Gasly was supposed to replace Carlos Sainz in Malaysia after rumours went out before Singapore that Jolyon Palmer was to be sacked from Renault after the race, Palmer is not returning to the team next season anyways as Sainz will be going to Renault on loan no matter what to Nico Hulkenberg, so it would make sense with all of Palmer's issues, that they give Sainz the seat now. Palmer sits 16th in the standings and has had his share of crashes and failures, some his fault, some car failures that were not in his control. Palmer is now expected to stay at Renault and with these rumours, does Gasly have a future at Red Bull? Seems like he's headed to the junior team so this saga is just getting started, it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
